Toxic chemicals found in household dust

90% of samples tested had 14 different types of chemicals, including phthalates and phenols.  And some of the fire retardants found have been linked to cancer.  See below for the list of chemicals.

1 in 4 Medicare patients take their blood pressure medications correctly

People who live in the South, have lower income, or take diuretics were more likely to be noncompliant with their medications.

Cataract operations found to improve sleep

They believe the improved lens allows light to come in, inducing melatonin release.  In a previous study, researchers found those women who had their appendix removed were more likely to have improved fertility.  This report highlights the issue of one procedure having an effect on an unrelated body system.

E-cigarettes found to help people quit smoking
This study reported by the BMJ found although they didn’t incite people to quit, electronic cigarettes helped those who were trying to quit smoking.  Smoking trends are decreasing and they feel E-cigs are to credit.  Their overall safety is still being debated.
