New evidence that HIV was in New York in the 1970’s before spreading to the West Coast
This debunks the theory that a “patient zero” air steward brought it to the US and spread it in the 1980’s.  Researchers believe after it jumped from apes to humans in Africa, the HIV virus infected those in the Caribbean, before it came to NY in early 1970. There it began to spread, making its way to San Francisco by the mid 70’s.
Drinking diet soda can DOUBLE risk of diabetes
This study found just two 6 oz diet sodas a day doubled risk of diabetes.  They are not sure why except a manipulation of glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity.  We believe diet sodas cause weight gain as your body expects something sugary coming down the pipe, but the diet soda offers no usable calories so metabolism can slow.

USPSTF Task Force encourages education and support for breastfeeding mothers.

They recognize the beneficial effects of breastfeeding and this may help patients now get coverage for such support by their insurance.
